As a car enthusiast, I recently started searching online to get the latest car trends and also try to find the best car of 2013. Away from the impressive pictures of the yet to be released 2014 Jeep Cherokee making the rounds online, I discovered two cars were garnering consensus amongst industry experts and pundits as the top cars of 2013. I took a closer look at the cars once again. Great styling, design and features for a sports car but is that enough to place both cars as the 'Best of 2013’?
At its annual 'Best of Awards’ show in January, top car resource site, cars.com announced the 2013 Subaru BRZ and the 2013 Scion FR-S as the winners of its most prestigious award, the ‘Best of 2013.' According to the Editor-in-Chief of the website, “the FR-S and BRZ’s impressive driving ability at a remarkably affordable price made these two sports cars stand out above the other nominees." The website states further, ”the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S won us over with their impressive handling dynamics, not only because of how they perform but because of the value they offer as affordable cars with respectable EPA gas mileage ratings.” They beat other popular cars like the Toyota Prius C, Honda Accord, Honda CR-V, BMW 3-series Sedan and Ram 1500 truck.
The 2013 Subaru BRZ also was selected along with the Scion FR-S as Consumer Report Magazine’s top car picks of 2013. The magazine stated that both cars have “super-sharp handling, excellent braking and ample acceleration." They took the honors over last year’s winner, the Fond Mustang in a criteria that was based mostly on performance.
A look at the 2013 Sabaru BRZ and the Scion FR-S
The two cars are rear-wheel-drive performance sport cars which are joint efforts of two giant auto-manufacturing companies Toyota and Subaru. Except for minor differences, the two cars look very much identical and are referred to as twins. They both look quite sporty and offer a wonderful driving experience. Fuel efficiency is at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 30 mile per gallon on highways. Some notable features include: side curtain airbags, navigation system, satellite radio, stability and traction control, comfortable seats (in the front), good handling, key-less entry and start amongst others.
I think the 2013 Subaru BRZ its twin, the 2013 Scion FR-S are great cars and deserve all their laurels but whether it is my best car of 2013? Well, am yet to decide. Do you think the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S are the Best cars of 2013?
