June 30 2013 marked the 60th anniversary of foremost sports car brand - Chevrolet Corvette - one of the world’s most celebrated sports cars, manufactured by General motors and Chevy. The Chevy Corvette has remained one of the top sports cars in the world ever since it made its debut in June 30, 1953, and has never gone out of production since then.
To celebrate this milestone, General Motors and Chevy announced a special edition for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will represent a special model of the sports car brand in commemoration of its 60th anniversary.
What should you expect from the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette stingray?
The manufactures remarks the commemorative Corvette Stingray is “engineered to defy convention. Designed to dismiss the ritual and the chiche” Rod Assimakopoulos, the general director of marketing and communication for Chevrolet Canada provides further details stating, “the 2014 corvette stingray delivers a combination of performance, design and technology that very few manufacturers can match.
The new Corvette Stingray perfectly embodies Chevrolet’s mission to deliver more than expected for our customers.”
Details of the special corvette stingray expected to be released in the fall (2013) are still sketchy but with details available, the exterior features an exposed carbon fibre roof on the coupe model and carbon fibre hood on all models; a variable one performance exhaust system and a Laguna blue tintcoat exterior paint treatment. The general standard features will include:
- A 6.2-Litre LT1 V-8 engine with direct injection.
- New 7-Speed manual with functional Rev matching
- Electronic top on convertible with access from key Fob
- Dual 8” configurable driver infotainment screens with Chevrolet Mylink System and rear view camera
- High intensity Discharge (HID) and LED lighting
- Power tilt/telescope steering wheel
- 5 position Drive mode selector that adjusts 12 vehicle attributes
2014 Corvette Stingray price
General motors recently put the price of the new Corvette at $51,000 for the coupe and $56,000 for the convertible.
