Pepsi's official statement:
"We understand how this video could be perceived by some as offensive, and we apologize to those who were offended," the rep said. "We have removed the video from all Mountain Dew channels and have been informed that Tyler is removing it from his channels as well."The ad, one of 3 series created by rapper Tyler The Creator which features a goat named Felicia (his instagram id is feliciathegoat), has been pulled from all Mountain Dew online channels, Adweek confirms.
The 60-second ad depicts a badly battered woman on crutches who is being pressed by a cop to pick a suspect out of a police lineup of five African-American males and a goat named Felicia. In a spot that caused criticisms this week, the goat Felicia - in a male voice- taunts the battered woman with phrases like "snitches get stitches, fool," "keep your mouth shut" and "I'm going to get out of here and do you up."
The ad was described by Dr. Boyce Watkins, a social commenter as "arguably the most racist commercial in history."
This is coming at a time when the company is being pressured to drop rapper Lil Wayne over an offensive lyric in a song.
What do you think about the ad? Is it the most racist in history?
