When Christmas gifting goes wrong. A Beats headphones box bought by Steve Lopez as a christmas gift for her daughter Carmen turned out to contain no headphones but cans of tuna. How did Walmart solve the problem? They offered the family a refund - “Walmart had said they would only give us a refund, at least the store did. That didn’t sound right, because I just want my headphones at this point. I was really looking forward to them,” said the girl. Come on give her the damn headphones!

Red Lobster Denies Closing Rumors

Posted on 12:06 by Unknown
red lobster closing
Ignore the rumor, Red Lobster is here to stay. The casual dining restaurant chain owned and operated by Darden Restaurants, Inc. in Orlando, Florida has denied internet rumors it is closing.
Darden has been trying to quash false reports since Christmas that Red Lobster is shuttering its restaurants across the country. Still, on Friday afternoon "Red Lobster closing" was the No. 1 item trending on Yahoo, and the rumor was the subject of multiple Tweets and Facebook posts.

Darden said last week it plans to sell or spin off the Red Lobster chain into a separate company. But "we never said we were closing any restaurants," spokesman Rich Jeffers said Friday.

Jeffers said the rumors stem from a piece in LA Weekly that "was clearly being facetious" about the brand's shutdown. Other media outlets wrongly assumed the restaurants were closing and reported that, he said.

"You had a couple outlets where clearly folks weren't practicing good journalism, and no one called to verify if what they read in LA Weekly was accurate," Jeffers said.

SMS Termination and the Rise of Cellular Novels

Posted on 06:07 by Unknown
MS Termination and the Rise of Cellular Novels

Nowadays with SMS Termination and other features and products, SMS services have come a long way since the time when text messages were only able to be delivered from user to user. Times have changed since you were only able to send one text message at a time to only one person.
New trends like cellular novels have resulted from this progress, and it is a perfect example of how we are now using mobile phones. This particular form of publishing started in Japan and is spreading through Asia rapidly. Its target ranges from teenage girls that have never read a novel before, to housewives who finding this refreshing take on love stories interesting.

Until very recently critics used to dismiss these authors, but something happened that changed their minds.

Cell phone novels started to get republished as books with a more elaborated and extended plot than its SMS counterparts, and some of them even became best selling novels surpassing renamed authors and experienced writers with academic backgrounds. This was a game changer and draw a lot of attention to this phenomenon.

These kinds of trends can benefit from the evolution of technology. New developments and features like iQsim’s GSM Gateways, that allow to schedule bulk SMS messages (as well as launching and monitoring campaigns) make this new form of entertainment possible and have changed the way people get informed.

It seems like Japan is not the only country with renamed ‘text message novelists’ making headlines, Finland is also stealing the scene with a few authors to compete with the creators of this trend. This might be only the beginning of a new movement that could very well expand to America in no time.

The short and easy-to-read nature of SMS novels, make it easier for people without reading habits to understand and keep high expectations for the next chapter or message, which isn’t something that teenagers in particular find in traditional literature, giving a wider opportunity for traditional telephone operators to capitalize on this trend.

Text message novels that have been published in book form are now being considered to be translated to other languages. Would you like to start following your novels by text message or do you prefer a more traditional approach? Let us know in the comment section.

How To Start an Online Business

Posted on 23:57 by Unknown
How to make money online
When you’re starting a new business you need to have certain things in consideration, such as equipment, furniture, location, employees, to name a few. But nowadays technology allows you to have your own e-commerce with very little resources, using a laptop, a phone system and the aid of various softwares and phone apps.
But how can you reduce expenses when you’re starting a new business?

Some of the main reasons most people avoid following their dream of being their own bosses are: lack of capital, fear of not being able to succeed and not wanting to get into much debt. But most of these things can be avoided if you start as an online business with very little monetary investment.

Here are some tools and tips that can help you grow when you’re starting small but with big goals:
How to make money online fast

Get a web Page

Secure your domain and make sure people can see what you have to offer, a catalogue with images for products or a very detailed description in case of services; include your business’ contact information with multiple options such as email, phone number and mailing address.

Don’t be Afraid of Social Networks

With so many of them is easy t get overwhelmed, choose the ones that fit your company and be active on them so that people can relate to your business and see what you have to offer.

Get a VoIP Telephone System

VoIP phones are some of the best tools to save money, not only they allow you to stay connected anywhere you are, with features that can send your calls to your mobile or give you the opportunity to have a local number from a different area to where your business is located, they also adapt to your specific needs.

Be unique

There are probably tons of other online business selling the same products or services that you have, they key is to offer something with that extra touch that differentiates you from the rest. What can you bring to the table that others don’t already have?

Make a working schedule and follow it

Many people who work from home or have online businesses don’t see it as “real work” and they simply work whenever they feel like, instead of sticking to a plan or business hours. Your clients need to know when can they contact you for doubts, orders or any problem they need solving and for these reasons you have to make yourself available on specific hours and have a working schedule.

Try following these simple rules to put into motion your plan and start your own online business with success.

Fast & Furious 7 Production Suspended After Following Walker's Death

Posted on 03:41 by Unknown
Paul Walker

Universal Pictures has shut down production "for a period of time" on Fast & Furious 7 following the death of its star Paul Walker. The news was announced after an autopsy report was released that showed Walker was killed by the combined effects of the impact and subsequent fire.
Walker, a passenger in the car driven by his friend and financial adviser Roger Rodas, died Saturday when the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT smashed into a light pole and tree then exploded in flames. The Los Angeles County coroner's office released the autopsy results Wednesday.
The report also says Rodas was killed by the impact. Walker starred in all but one of the six "Fast & Furious" blockbuster films that glorified fast cars and dangerous driving. The studio announced Wednesday that the film will shut down "for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise." The seventh installment of the street racing series had begun shooting in September.
When Walker died Saturday, the film was on break for the Thanksgiving holiday. Shooting had been planned to resume Monday in Atlanta, but production was put on hold following Walker's death. While much of Fast & Furious 7 has been filmed, it is far from complete. Universal is scheduled to release the film in July.

Paul Konerko returns to White Sox Next Season

Posted on 08:40 by Unknown

Chicago White Sox Wednesday anounced Paul Konerko will be making a return to the team next season.
Paul Konerko will return for his 16th season with the Chicago White Sox, the team announced Wednesday morning. Konerko signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract, in which he will receive $1.5 million in 2014 and $1 million in 2021. “I’m looking forward to coming back in a new role where I can help both the organization and my teammates get turned around in the right direction and also do some productive things on the field,” Konerko said in a Sox release. Konerko, a 37-year-old first baseman/designated hitter, was deciding whether to return to the Sox for another year, retire or play for another team. He said in September that if he returned it would likely be his last season. “Paul Konerko has been an extremely important member of our lineup and presence in our clubhouse since his arrival in Chicago,” Sox general manager Rick Hahn said in the release. “Paul needed time this fall to step away, think about his situation, and reach his own conclusions. We are very pleased that he has decided to come back for another season." Konerko returns to a lineup that includes first baseman/designated hitter Adam Dunn and first baseman Jose Abreu. Dunn is signed for $15 million next season. Abreu signed a six-year, $68 million deal with the Sox in October. Hahn said that Konerko will serve as the designated hitter against some left-handed pitching and will assist Abreu as he transitions into the Sox's primary first baseman. Hahn said Konerko will also serve as "an incredibly important mentor and leader within our clubhouse." Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement that the organization was pleased about Konerko's return. “Paul Konerko has been the constant face of the White Sox organization and the heart of our clubhouse over the past 15 seasons,” Reinsdorf said. “He certainly earned the right to make this decision on his own, and we are very pleased that he has decided to return for another season. While the accomplishments speak for themselves -- six All-Star Games, a World Series title, 427 home runs with the White Sox -- anyone who is in our clubhouse day-in and day-out knows the value Paul brings to our franchise as a leader, as a teammate, as a mentor and as our captain.”

Amazon Prime Air To Deliver Purchases Via Drones

Posted on 09:09 by Unknown

Amazon.com introduced its Prime Air service on Sunday in a video it posted on its website. The Prime Air service is a futuristic delivery system that the company says will get packages into customers' hands in half an hour or less, delivered via unmanned aerial vehicles. In the 80-second clip, a shopper buys an item on Amazon.
The item is then placed into a plastic yellow Amazon container and picked up at the end of a conveyor belt by an Amazon drone, which takes off and soars over a grassy field before depositing the package with a thud outside the shopper's doorstep. "One day, Prime Air vehicles will be as normal as seeing mail trucks on the road today," the company said in a brief Q&A on its website. Amazon said the company has been working on Prime Air in its next-generation research and development lab, but cautioned that it would be a while before customers could choose it as a delivery option. "Putting Prime Air into commercial use will take some number of years as we advance the technology and wait for the necessary FAA rules and regulations," the company said. Amazon added that it hoped the agency would put in place rules for unmanned aerial vehicles by 2015. "We will be ready at that time," it said. Amazon founder and Chief Executive Jeff Bezos introduced the delivery-by-drone concept during a segment on CBS' "60 Minutes" on Sunday. He said Prime Air would be available for packages weighing 5 pounds or less.

Kobe Bryant sign 2-year extension With Lakers

Posted on 05:45 by Unknown

Kobe Bryant has signed a two-year contract extension with Lakers, securing the fourth-leading scorer in NBA history into his 20th season with the franchise.
Bryant hasn't played this season while recovering from surgery on his torn Achilles tendon in April, but the Lakers didn't wait to renew their commitment to the five-time NBA champion before he got anywhere close to the free-agent market next summer.
Bryant inked the deal with owner Jim Buss and general manager Mitch Kupchak at his side in agent Rob Pelinka's office moments before the Lakers left for an East Coast road trip. Bryant, Buss and Kupchak all had repeatedly stated Bryant wouldn't leave his only NBA home.
The 35-year-old guard quickly tweeted a picture of his signature with the hashtag: Laker4Life.
''This is a very happy day for Lakers fans and for the Lakers organization,'' Kupchak said in a statement. ''We've said all along that our priority and hope was to have Kobe finish his career as a Laker, and this should ensure that that happens.''
Bryant has spent more than half of his life playing for the Lakers, and if he fulfills his new contract, he will break John Stockton's record of 19 seasons with one NBA franchise.
But Kobe's legacy in L.A. already is secure: No less than Magic Johnson and Jerry West have declared Bryant the franchise's greatest player, given his fistful of championship rings and his consistent brilliance while scoring more points than anybody in a Lakers uniform.
Although Bryant is taking a pay cut from his $30.45 million salary this season, Kobe and the Lakers didn't exactly agree to a hometown discount, either. ESPN reported the deal is worth $48.5 million, keeping Kobe among the NBA's highest-paid players.
Some fans grumbled online that the contract will limit the Lakers' flexibility in the free-agent market next summer, clouding their starry-eyed dreams of signing Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James. Other fans approved the payout as a reward for an iconic player who still ranked among the NBA's most dangerous scorers before his injury.
Bryant and 39-year-old point guard Steve Nash are the only players signed to significant contracts for next season with the Lakers, who have been anticipating a major roster restructuring in 2014 ever since Dwight Howard fled town in July.
Even if the Lakers waived the oft-injured Nash under a special provision limiting his salary cap hit, Bryant would eat up roughly a third of their room under the projected cap before anybody else joins him next season.
Bryant returned to practice earlier this month, and his return to the court seems imminent, although he isn't rushing back from perhaps the most significant injury of his career. Bryant said last week that he could adjust his game and contribute something to the Lakers right now, but he wants to make a full return when he finally steps on the court for his 18th NBA season.
''It's definitely something where you're kind of champing at the bit a little bit, but we've come so far,'' Bryant said after practice last week. ''I want to make sure, we all do, when you step out there you're ready to go the long haul, and (the injury) isn't something that continues on.''
Coach Mike D'Antoni has said Bryant can return whenever Kobe says he's ready. The Lakers are surviving in his absence, improving to 7-7 on Sunday night by beating Sacramento for their third straight victory.
''I've been extremely proud of the way we've competed,'' Bryant said.
The contract is another milestone in Bryant's remarkable career. He was a 17-year-old high schooler when the Lakers acquired him after the Charlotte Hornets chose him in the first round of the 1996 draft, and Lakers fans watched as he evolved into one of the most dominant scorers in NBA history, dazzling fans with his offensive inventiveness and drawing critics for his ball-dominating style of play.
Bryant won three championships with Shaquille O'Neal from 2000-02 and added two more with Pau Gasol in 2009 and 2010, winning the NBA finals MVP award after each of those titles. He won his only NBA MVP award in 2008 and his scoring titles in 2006 and 2007, also earning 15 selections to the All-Star game - with four MVP awards from the showcase - and two Olympic gold medals with the U.S. national team.
Bryant hasn't given up hope of adding a sixth championship ring to his trophy case, even while the Lakers struggle to keep up with the NBA's best teams. With his immediate future secure, Bryant can focus on getting back to full strength on his injured leg.
''It's always a much greater appreciation for it,'' Bryant said of his imminent return. ''You understand the mortality that comes with being on that doorstep. There's always a sense of enjoyment when you come back.''

Why SMS Marketing is Perfect for Sports Fans

Posted on 07:11 by Unknown
sms marketing for sports

Technologies like SMS Termination and Call Termination have an impact in sports. But, how? Well, sports fans around the globe crave immediate news and statistics on their favorite teams and athletes. They want to know where and when they can see the next big match or buy tickets to the game of the season.

With this in mind, let’s think about the best way to connect with sports fans effectively and easily. Taking into consideration that over 75% of the population owns or has access to a mobile phone, SMS marketing would seem the hands down favorite method of connecting with fans on a global scale.
There are many reasons why SMS marketing works. It’s cost effective and allows for fast and easy communication with your target audience. SMS marketing is also more powerful than email marketing because more people are inclined to open a text message than an email from an unknown source.
Simple steps towards SMS marketing success:
With new laws taking place it’s crucial, now more than ever, to understand the basics of SMS marketing and how to apply them to your sports marketing campaign.
1. Acquire with caution. As of October 16 of this year, all marketers require consumer consent before delivering SMS messages under the latest Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) rules. To avoid unwanted class action lawsuits, it’s imperative that marketers have consent from not only their new customers but also their existing mobile phone list.
2. Leave it to the experts. You want to make sure that your sports marketing campaign gets out to the broadest audience possible. Employing the most reliable SMS Termination solution is key to your campaign success. Iron Suite by iQsim is a terrific solution because it can be used for Call Termination as well.
3. Short and sweet. Consider all the tasks you have to accomplish on a daily basis, do you have time to read a short novel? No! The best advice for any sports marketing campaign is to keep your messages short and sweet. Make them powerful in as few words as possible.
4. Timing is everything. Whatever you do, don’t send your SMS in the middle of a much anticipated FIFA World Cup qualifying game. Be smart, take time zones into consideration. Don’t wake people in the middle of the night and don’t send a text during the morning.
According to Mobile Marketer, Thursdays seem to be the best day of the week for SMS marketing. Around noon is also a great time to engage your mobile list of customers. Most importantly, just remember to be respectful. After all, you don’t want to give people a reason to unsubscribe.

Adam Levine is People’s ‘Sexiest Man’
Adam Levine has been crowned People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive.Other men that made this year’s SMA list are Chris Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman, Idris Elba, Jimmy Fallon, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Chris Pine, Pharell Williams, Ronan Farrow, Justin Theroux, and David Beckham. Here is what the musician says about being the Sexiest Man Alive and how he’s found true love with Behati in a interview he granted the magazine.
He may be battling to be the winning coach on NBC’s hit series The Voice but Adam Levine has this year’s Sexiest Man Alive crown in the bag.
“As a musician, you have fantasies that you want to win Grammys, but I didn’t really think that this was on the table,” the singer tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story. “I was just amazed and stunned and it almost seemed like they were kidding, but they weren’t, so that’s cool.”
The L.A.-raised Levine also reveals that he cries at movies (E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial always gets him), loves to be naked and is looking forward to settling down with his fiancée, Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo. “I didn’t think marriage was for me for a long time,” the 34-year-old says. “I was ready when I was ready. That’s about as simple as it could possibly be.”
As for that incredible body, Levine credits yoga and spinning for keeping his stamina up, especially as his success continues to skyrocket. “This is just a really interesting time where everything seems to be heading in a certain direction,” he adds. “And I’m not taking any of it for granted.”

Mary J. Blige Talks Weight Loss And Drinking On Shape Magazine

Posted on 06:07 by Unknown
Mary J. Blige Talks Weight Loss And Drinking On Shape Magazine
The queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige graces the cover of Shape magazine and in this edition she talks weight loss, alcohol and swimming. Here are some excepts from the interview.

She’s quit drinking: “I’m off it completely once more, and now I feel stronger than ever! Whitney Houston’s death really crushed me. I saw someone so incredibly talented just diminish, and I refuse to go out like that.”
Mary at the age of 42: ‘Once I reached that goal, I wanted to be fit forever. Unfortunately, as I got older, I found it was harder to maintain. As you age, your body really wants to hold on to extra weight.’
Her workouts: The star credits her new-found lean figure to intensive cardio workouts consisting of running ‘six to eight miles a week’ along with strength training and core work. ‘The treadmill is fine, but running outdoors gives me the best results… I hate being out of shape! But I don’t exercise just to lose weight. It makes me feel better when I get that run in. I could be in the worst mood, but when I do my cardio I feel much, much better.’
She limits carbs: ‘I’m pretty diligent. I just can’t eat the way I used to,’ she reveals. A typical breakfast usually consists of oatmeal or an egg-white omelet with spinach; lunch is salad with grilled chicken or chicken sausage and brown rice or potatoes; fish and steamed vegies is often on the menu for dinner, while the hitmaker also drinks ‘probably half a gallon’ of water every day.
Learning how to swim as an adult: ‘I never swam as a kid and that always bothered me. At first, it was very hard, but once I got in the water and figured out how to breathe, it was so liberating. Now it’s helping me with every aspect of my life – personally and professionally. Conquering that fear was a huge boost to my confidence. I’m as proud of this accomplishment as I would be if I had graduated from college, which I never got to do. I had an “aha!” moment recently after a swim. I was walking by a mirror and I saw my abs, and they were crazy toned, and my arms looked unbelievable – in a good way,’ she beams. ‘I was thrilled and so proud of myself.’

The Wally has been the key item shoe for Hey Dude since our first season. The Wally is a versatile, low top chukka style slip-on with an elastic lace closure. The upper is constructed of Italian cow-suede, lined with soft cotton flannel or polyester pile fleece for added comfort and warmth. Contrast stitching and padded top-line add a worn in, slipper vibe, while the distressed-style supportive rubber sole brings structure to the relaxed look. Wally delivers stock with our elastic slip-on lacing system and a set of round nylon hard-laces.
