Red Lobster Denies Closing Rumors

Posted on 12:06 by Unknown
red lobster closing
Ignore the rumor, Red Lobster is here to stay. The casual dining restaurant chain owned and operated by Darden Restaurants, Inc. in Orlando, Florida has denied internet rumors it is closing.
Darden has been trying to quash false reports since Christmas that Red Lobster is shuttering its restaurants across the country. Still, on Friday afternoon "Red Lobster closing" was the No. 1 item trending on Yahoo, and the rumor was the subject of multiple Tweets and Facebook posts.

Darden said last week it plans to sell or spin off the Red Lobster chain into a separate company. But "we never said we were closing any restaurants," spokesman Rich Jeffers said Friday.

Jeffers said the rumors stem from a piece in LA Weekly that "was clearly being facetious" about the brand's shutdown. Other media outlets wrongly assumed the restaurants were closing and reported that, he said.

"You had a couple outlets where clearly folks weren't practicing good journalism, and no one called to verify if what they read in LA Weekly was accurate," Jeffers said.

SMS Termination and the Rise of Cellular Novels

Posted on 06:07 by Unknown
MS Termination and the Rise of Cellular Novels

Nowadays with SMS Termination and other features and products, SMS services have come a long way since the time when text messages were only able to be delivered from user to user. Times have changed since you were only able to send one text message at a time to only one person.
New trends like cellular novels have resulted from this progress, and it is a perfect example of how we are now using mobile phones. This particular form of publishing started in Japan and is spreading through Asia rapidly. Its target ranges from teenage girls that have never read a novel before, to housewives who finding this refreshing take on love stories interesting.

Until very recently critics used to dismiss these authors, but something happened that changed their minds.

Cell phone novels started to get republished as books with a more elaborated and extended plot than its SMS counterparts, and some of them even became best selling novels surpassing renamed authors and experienced writers with academic backgrounds. This was a game changer and draw a lot of attention to this phenomenon.

These kinds of trends can benefit from the evolution of technology. New developments and features like iQsim’s GSM Gateways, that allow to schedule bulk SMS messages (as well as launching and monitoring campaigns) make this new form of entertainment possible and have changed the way people get informed.

It seems like Japan is not the only country with renamed ‘text message novelists’ making headlines, Finland is also stealing the scene with a few authors to compete with the creators of this trend. This might be only the beginning of a new movement that could very well expand to America in no time.

The short and easy-to-read nature of SMS novels, make it easier for people without reading habits to understand and keep high expectations for the next chapter or message, which isn’t something that teenagers in particular find in traditional literature, giving a wider opportunity for traditional telephone operators to capitalize on this trend.

Text message novels that have been published in book form are now being considered to be translated to other languages. Would you like to start following your novels by text message or do you prefer a more traditional approach? Let us know in the comment section.

Fast & Furious 7 Production Suspended After Following Walker's Death

Posted on 03:41 by Unknown
Paul Walker

Universal Pictures has shut down production "for a period of time" on Fast & Furious 7 following the death of its star Paul Walker. The news was announced after an autopsy report was released that showed Walker was killed by the combined effects of the impact and subsequent fire.
Walker, a passenger in the car driven by his friend and financial adviser Roger Rodas, died Saturday when the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT smashed into a light pole and tree then exploded in flames. The Los Angeles County coroner's office released the autopsy results Wednesday.
The report also says Rodas was killed by the impact. Walker starred in all but one of the six "Fast & Furious" blockbuster films that glorified fast cars and dangerous driving. The studio announced Wednesday that the film will shut down "for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise." The seventh installment of the street racing series had begun shooting in September.
When Walker died Saturday, the film was on break for the Thanksgiving holiday. Shooting had been planned to resume Monday in Atlanta, but production was put on hold following Walker's death. While much of Fast & Furious 7 has been filmed, it is far from complete. Universal is scheduled to release the film in July.

Paul Konerko returns to White Sox Next Season

Posted on 08:40 by Unknown

Chicago White Sox Wednesday anounced Paul Konerko will be making a return to the team next season.
Paul Konerko will return for his 16th season with the Chicago White Sox, the team announced Wednesday morning. Konerko signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract, in which he will receive $1.5 million in 2014 and $1 million in 2021. “I’m looking forward to coming back in a new role where I can help both the organization and my teammates get turned around in the right direction and also do some productive things on the field,” Konerko said in a Sox release. Konerko, a 37-year-old first baseman/designated hitter, was deciding whether to return to the Sox for another year, retire or play for another team. He said in September that if he returned it would likely be his last season. “Paul Konerko has been an extremely important member of our lineup and presence in our clubhouse since his arrival in Chicago,” Sox general manager Rick Hahn said in the release. “Paul needed time this fall to step away, think about his situation, and reach his own conclusions. We are very pleased that he has decided to come back for another season." Konerko returns to a lineup that includes first baseman/designated hitter Adam Dunn and first baseman Jose Abreu. Dunn is signed for $15 million next season. Abreu signed a six-year, $68 million deal with the Sox in October. Hahn said that Konerko will serve as the designated hitter against some left-handed pitching and will assist Abreu as he transitions into the Sox's primary first baseman. Hahn said Konerko will also serve as "an incredibly important mentor and leader within our clubhouse." Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement that the organization was pleased about Konerko's return. “Paul Konerko has been the constant face of the White Sox organization and the heart of our clubhouse over the past 15 seasons,” Reinsdorf said. “He certainly earned the right to make this decision on his own, and we are very pleased that he has decided to return for another season. While the accomplishments speak for themselves -- six All-Star Games, a World Series title, 427 home runs with the White Sox -- anyone who is in our clubhouse day-in and day-out knows the value Paul brings to our franchise as a leader, as a teammate, as a mentor and as our captain.”

Amazon Prime Air To Deliver Purchases Via Drones

Posted on 09:09 by Unknown

Amazon.com introduced its Prime Air service on Sunday in a video it posted on its website. The Prime Air service is a futuristic delivery system that the company says will get packages into customers' hands in half an hour or less, delivered via unmanned aerial vehicles. In the 80-second clip, a shopper buys an item on Amazon.
The item is then placed into a plastic yellow Amazon container and picked up at the end of a conveyor belt by an Amazon drone, which takes off and soars over a grassy field before depositing the package with a thud outside the shopper's doorstep. "One day, Prime Air vehicles will be as normal as seeing mail trucks on the road today," the company said in a brief Q&A on its website. Amazon said the company has been working on Prime Air in its next-generation research and development lab, but cautioned that it would be a while before customers could choose it as a delivery option. "Putting Prime Air into commercial use will take some number of years as we advance the technology and wait for the necessary FAA rules and regulations," the company said. Amazon added that it hoped the agency would put in place rules for unmanned aerial vehicles by 2015. "We will be ready at that time," it said. Amazon founder and Chief Executive Jeff Bezos introduced the delivery-by-drone concept during a segment on CBS' "60 Minutes" on Sunday. He said Prime Air would be available for packages weighing 5 pounds or less.
