Euro Crisis: We'll stop migrants if euro collapses ~ May

Posted on 08:56 by Unknown

In an interview in The Daily Telegraph, Theresa May says “work is ongoing” to restrict European immigration in the event of a financial collapse.
People from throughout the EU, with the exception of new member countries such as Romania and Bulgaria, are able to work anywhere in the single market.
However, there are growing concerns that if Greece was forced to leave the euro, it would effectively go bankrupt and millions could lose their jobs and consider looking for work abroad.
The crisis could spread quickly to other vulnerable countries such as Spain, Ireland and Portugal, although Britain is regarded as a safe haven because it is outside the single currency.
Details of the contingency plan emerged as the euro crisis deepened further yesterday.
Catalonia was forced to turn to the Spanish government for a bail-out and speculation mounted that Bankia, the troubled Spanish bank, would need £15  billion in state support. European markets fell again as the euro dropped in value against other major currencies.
The Home Secretary says that the Government is already “looking at the trends” to determine whether immigration from beleaguered European countries is increasing. While there is no evidence of increased migration at present, she adds that it is “difficult to say how it is going to develop in coming weeks”.
On the subject of whether emergency immigration controls are under consideration, Mrs May says: “It is right that we do some contingency planning on this [and] that is work that is ongoing.”
The introduction of immigration controls within the EU would undermine a key part of the single market. However, it is allowed in “exceptional” circumstances under European law.
Controls are most likely to include restrictions on people seeking to work in Britain, who could be made to apply for visas.
Several European governments introduced temporary immigration controls when countries such as Poland and the Czech Republic joined the EU, to stop an influx of workers. France also threatened to reintroduce passport controls at the Italian border following an influx of Libyan and Tunisian refugees during the Arab Spring.
David Cameron has already said that Britain has made contingency plans to deal with the break-up of the single currency.
They involve preparations to evacuate Britons from Greece if civil disobedience spirals out of control, and for banks to take steps to protect

Facebook stock slipping: lawsuits add to IPO troubles

Posted on 06:37 by Unknown
Facebook’s initial public offering is the subject of two congressional inquiries and mounting lawsuits as the social network enters its fifth day of public trading. The shares regained some ground Wednesday, rising $1, or 3.2 percent, to close at $32. They were up another 50 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $32.50 in early premarket trading Thursday. But they are still more than 14 percent below their $38 per share IPO price last week.

The stock’s rocky inaugural trading day last Friday was followed by a two-day decline. The launch was held up by a half-hour delay, caused by glitches on the Nasdaq Stock Market. It was marred further this week as investors began accusing the banks that arranged the IPO of sharing important information about Facebook’s business prospects with some clients and not others.
Several shareholders who bought stock in the IPO have filed lawsuits against Facebook, its executives and Morgan Stanley, the IPO’s lead underwriter. At question is whether analysts at the big underwriter investment banks cut their second-quarter and full-year forecasts for Facebook just before the IPO, and told only a handful of clients about it.
One lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in New York, claims Facebook’s IPO documents contained untrue statements and omitted important facts, such as a “severe reduction in revenue growth” that Facebook was experiencing at the time of the offering. The suit’s three plaintiffs, who bought Facebook stock on its first day of trading May 18, claim they were damaged in the process.

Morgan Stanley declined to comment. Facebook said the lawsuit is without merit.
Another lawsuit, filed in San Mateo County Superior Court in California, claims Facebook and underwriters misled investors in Facebook’s IPO documents. Both lawsuits seek class action status on behalf of investors who bought Facebook stock and lost money on Friday. “No one gets it perfect, as far as saying what the financial results are,” said Anthony Michael Sabino, professor at St. John’s University’s Peter J. Tobin College of Business. The bottom line, he added, is whether Facebook or the underwriter had material information about Facebook’s finances that was not disclosed publicly. “At this moment, it’s still too early to say,” Sabino said. “We don’t know enough, but this could turn out to be an issue.”
What is known is that, in March, Facebook began meeting with analysts at the underwriting firms. The gatherings are a customary part of the IPO process and are designed to help analysts understand the company’s business so they can make accurate financial projections. On May 9, the third day of Facebook’s pre-IPO roadshow to meet with prospective investors, the company filed an amended IPO document that said its number of mobile users was growing faster than its revenue. According to a person familiar with the matter, Facebook then had another meeting with analysts and told them that based on the new information in the filings, the analysts’ forecasts should be at the low end of the range that the company gave them in April. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not publicly authorized to discuss the matter.
Adding to Wednesday’s events, Facebook was in talks with the New York Stock Exchange to move its stock from the Nasdaq Stock Market after the botched offering, according to a person familiar with the matter. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. The news of the talks was first reported by Reuters.
NYSE spokesman Rich Adamonis said: “There have been no discussions with Facebook regarding switching their listing in light of the events of the last week, nor do we think a discussion along those lines would be appropriate at this time.”
A Nasdaq spokesman declined to comment.
Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S.D., chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, said late Wednesday that his panel wants to learn more about the social network’s initial offering. The committee seeks briefings with Facebook representatives, regulatory agencies and others. After the briefings, Johnson said, he will determine whether a hearing should be held.
Also gathering information about Facebook’s IPO is the House Financial Services Committee. An aide to that panel said its staff is getting briefings. The subject is likely to be raised in hearings by the committee in the coming weeks, even though no hearings are planned specifically on the Facebook IPO, the aide said. The aide spoke on condition of anonymity because the House committee’s planned inquiry hasn’t been publicly announced.

Australian Woman is World’s Richest Woman

Posted on 06:00 by Unknown
Damn! Ma'am is sure eating deep into her money!
Americans no longer hold claim to the world’s richest people.First, Bill Gates lost the "world’s richest man" crown to Carlos Slim, the Mexican businessman. Now, according to Australia’s BRW magazine, Gina Rinehart – the Australian mining magnate – has become the world’s richest woman. She takes the crown from Wal-Mart heiress Christy Walton, who held the title of world’s richest woman for seven years.

According to BRW’s 2012 Rich 200 List, Ms. Rinehart’s net worth is now $29.7 billion. That tops Ms. Walton’s $26 billion pile. Ms. Rinehart’s fortune has nearly tripled over the past year – at the rate of more than $1 million per hour – due to the mining boom in Australia and strong commodity prices.
Of course, guessing people’s wealth is usually a guess. And the Bloomberg Billionaire Index lists Ms. Rinehart's current wealth at a mere $18 billion, putting her well below Christy. So there is room for disagreement.
BRW said Ms. Rinehart could become the richest person in the world if commodity prices and Ms. Rinehart’s mining projects continue to grow. (The same boast is being made by Brazilian mining magnate Eike Batista).
Yet with her new crown comes anxiety. Ms. Rinehart, as my readers might recall, has been engaged in a vicious battle with her own kids over control of the family business empire.  Three of Rinehart's four kids - John Hancock, Bianca Rinehart and Hope Welker – are suing her to oust her as trustee of the multibillion-dollar family trust established by her late father Lang Hancock.
Ms. Rinehart has said that her kids are unfit to run the business. “None of the plaintiffs (her children) has the requisite capacity or skill, nor the knowledge, experience, judgment or responsible work ethic to administer a trust in the nature of the trust in particular as part of the growing HPPL Group,” she claimed in court papers.
She is also facing new claims from Aboriginal landowners who say her company isn’t paying them enough for royalty payments.
Apparently, it’s not easy at the top – even with $28 billion.

Lagos Doctors Solidarity Strike Illegal ~ Reps

Posted on 07:59 by Unknown
The House of Representatives Committee on Health yesterday described as unconstitutional the indefinite strike by doctors in the employment of the Federal Government in solidarity with their sacked Lagos State counterparts and appealed to them to go back to work immediately.

There were also strong indications last night that the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Lagos State chapter may have a rethink concerning the crisis.
The NMA, in the wake of the strike, had threatened to ground health services in the state, if the government fails to end the face off with its doctors, within a given period of time.
However, Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has decried the threats and intimidations being dished out by the disengaged striking Lagos doctors on the newly recruited doctors.
But Chairman of the committee, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, who led other members to an emergency meeting with Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) of the four Federal Government owned hospitals in Lagos, expressed worry over the crisis in the health sector.
"We are getting too many strikes in the health industry. It is important that for every action that we take, there is need to look at the legality and constitutionality of such actions. You do not use conflicts to resolve conflict. Continuous dialogue is the best option," he said.
The chairman expressed concern over the plights of the patients, particularly the masses, who according to him, do not have better means of achieving better alternative health care. "The question now is that we have patients who have been left unattended to and not being cared for and as this strike is going on should we say that the salary should be stopped and that if we resolve the issues salary will start running?" he said.
Addressing the journalists after the meeting, Elumelu expressed optimism that the outcome of the meeting will achieve progress as the doctors promised to call an emergency meeting for the benefit of all.
Reacting to a question, Elumelu said: "We are here in respect of the Federal Government employees, who are on solidarity strike. That informed our visit."
He hinted further that, "during our deliberation, it was agreed that doctors agreed to embark on this solidarity strike at their own meeting and for them to call it off, they also need that emergency meeting to enable them discuss, review the reasons for embarking on the strike and be able to come up with a quick resolution. Now you will agree with me that they need that space before the close of business today and which they have agreed they will do."
Chairman of NMA, Lagos Chapter, Dr Edamisan Temiye, in response to the meeting, said NMA had agreed to hold an emergency meeting soonest to review the situation on ground, assuring that in the main time, the doctors would continue to take care of the in-patients on admission.
Meanwhile, ACN's Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, advised the sacked doctors to embrace dialogue and peace offered by Lagos State government position that it is still ready to listen to the sacked doctors and stop thinking they can be allowed to cripple the health sector in Lagos.
"We see the threat messages to the newly recruited doctors as a condemnable act that aims to completely paralysing health delivery in Lagos in the wake of the intransigence of the sacked doctors who decided to abandon their professional calling for personal comfort and other trivial benefits.
"We see this unprofessional conduct as demeaning of the status of doctors who should not be associated with anything that constitutes threat to lives and we condemn those behind this effort to scare away the newly recruited doctors from taking up the responsibilities the sacked doctors abandoned.
"While we condemn this resort to uncivilised self help by the sacked doctors, we urge them to go back to the negotiation table with the state government, which has declared that its doors are still open for further engagement with the sacked doctors.
"We urge them to put their acts together and signify intent to go back to work so as to allow for further talks with the government. We restate our position that medical doctors are life savers and that they undermine their professional callings by abandoning their professional duties in pursuit of added comfort," the party stated.

Bye Drogba: Chelsea confirm Drogba is leaving next month

Posted on 07:49 by Unknown
Chelsea have confirmed their star, Didier Drogba will leave the club when his contract expires in June.
The news follows a report in France that claimed the Ivory Coast striker had told his Chelsea team-mates that he had kicked his last ball for the newly-crowned European champions.
"Didier is undoubtedly a Chelsea legend and will always be part of the Chelsea family. He is certainly leaving on a high after Saturday night but he feels the time is right for a new challenge," Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay said.
"Of course Didier has contributed so much to all of Chelsea's recent successes. He has been a consummate professional during his entire time here and as one of the natural leaders in our squad he has been an inspiration to a lot of our younger players.
"We have known for some time that this outcome was likely but Didier and the club only made a final decision on that in the last couple of days, because for obvious reasons neither Didier nor the club wanted to distract focus away from the Champions League final.
"The talks were amicable all the way through and we wish him all the best for the future. He is welcome back to Stamford Bridge at any time - either as a player or as a guest of ours."
The striker, 34, who has been heavily linked with a move to Shanghai Shenhua where he could link up with former Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Anelka, thanked his team-mates and owner Roman Abramovich after spending eight years at the club during which time he scored 157 goals in 341 appearances while winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and the Champions League.
"I wanted to put an end to all the speculation and confirm that I am leaving Chelsea. It has been a very difficult decision for me to make and I am very proud of what we have achieved but the time is right for a new challenge for me.
"As a team we have accomplished so much and have won every single trophy possible. Saturday was a very special moment for everyone at the club and for all the fans, and I am very proud to have played my part in bringing many trophies to this club, which has been my home for the last eight years.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the club especially Roman and my team-mates, many of whom have become very close friends and will be my friends for life. I would also like to say a very special thank you to the Chelsea fans who have shown me so much love and support over the years.
"I wish the club all the best and continued success for the future - you will always be in my heart."

wtf!!! Snoring 'can raise cancer risk five-fold'

Posted on 04:50 by Unknown
All we can say is WinTF!!!
Snoring and other types of 'sleep disordered breathing', as it is known, can deprive the body of enough oxygen for hours at a time.
Scientists now believe having low blood oxygen levels can trigger the development of cancerous tumours, by promoting the growth of the vessels that feed them.
They say in future doctors could help people fight the disease by stopping them snoring.
Researchers in the US looked at cancer rates in more than 1,500 people, in a study of sleep problems that has been going for 22 years.
They found those with severe sleep disordered breathing (SDB) were 4.8 times more likely to develop cancer than those who had no such problems.
Those with moderate SDB were at double the risk, while those with only a slight problem had a 10 per cent increased chance, according to the group, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
By far the most common type of sleep disordered breathing problem is obstructive sleep apnoea.
In this, the airway frequently collapses during the breathing cycle, leaving the sleeper struggling for breath. Typically this produces snoring and repeated forced waking.
Sleep apnoea is already known to be associated with other health problems including obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes.
As being overweight can cause cancer, it could simply have been the case that snoring had no active role in promoting cancer, and was simply a proxy for obesity.
However, the researchers took into account whether participants were a healthy weight or not, as well as a range of other confounding factors, such as age, sex, and smoking status.
The link between SDB and cancer held true even after these were adjusted for. In fact, the association was stronger for those of a healthy weight than the obese.
The researchers concluded this meant that sleep disordered breathing could itself raise the risk of cancer, rather than just being a general sign of poor health.
Laboratory studies have also shown that intermittent hypoxia - or low oxygen levels - promotes tumour growth in mice with skin cancer. Lack of oxygen stimulates the generation of blood vessels that nourish tumours, a process known as angiogenesis.
Dr Javier Nieto, who led the study, said: "The consistency of the evidence from the animal experiments and this new epidemiologic evidence in humans is highly compelling."
Laboratory and animal studies "suggest that intermittent hypoxia promotes angiogenesis and tumour growth".
He continued: "Ours is the first study to show an association between SDB and an elevated risk of cancer mortality in a population-based sample."
He said further research was needed to prove the link beyond doubt, but said if the relationship was firmy established, "the diagnosis and treatment of SDB in patients with cancer might be indicated to prolong survival".
[Telegraph]

The results were presented on Sunday at the annual conference of the American Thoracic Society in San Francisco. They will also be published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

Breaking! More details emerge in Trayvon Martin investigation

Posted on 11:34 by Unknown
 #JusticeforTrayvonMartin
Trayvon Martin's girlfriend, talking to him on the telephone, heard the teenager saying "get off, get off," in the moments before his cell phone cut off and he was shot dead, according to a recording of the girl's interview with a prosecutor released Friday.

Another witness, however, seems to put Martin on top of George Zimmerman for at least part of the struggle, according to another recording.
"Where I first walked out there, the black guy was on top, and the only reason I can tell that was because the guy that was on the ground under him at that point wrestling was definitely a lighter color," the witness, whose name has not been made public, said in the interview.
Martin was African-American. Zimmerman is a white Hispanic.
The recordings provide the most detailed look yet into previously reported witness statements detailing the last moments of Martin's life.
Martin was shot to death February 26 while walking in the Sanford, Florida, neighborhood where he was staying during a visit with his father.
Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, is charged with second-degree murder in the death, which sparked nationwide protests and inflamed public passions over race relations and gun control.
The girl, whose name has not been made public, told Assistant State Attorney Bernie de la Rionda that Martin got away from the man, who turned out to be Zimmerman, but only temporarily.
He was out of breath from running away and scared, she said, and decided not to keep running because he was close to the house where he was staying.
And as Zimmerman drew closer, the girl said, Martin called out, "Why you following me for?" according to the recording.
"I hear this man, like this old man, say, 'What are you doing around here?' " the girl said.
The girl said she called out to Martin, asking what was happening, but he didn't answer. The next thing she heard was a bumping sound, followed by what might have been a scuffle.
"I could hear it a little bit, 'Get off, get off,' then the phone just hung up," the girl said.
The other witness said he heard loud noises outside his home that dark, wet night, and when he looked outside, he saw one person in dark clothing over someone who appeared to be wearing a red or white piece of apparel.
"I heard, 'Help, help, help,' and I yelled at them and said, 'Hey, cut it out,' " the witness told police. He then called 911.
Zimmerman has claimed self-defense in the shooting, saying Martin charged him after the two exchanged words, knocking him to the ground and hitting his head repeatedly against a concrete sidewalk.
Prosecutors say Zimmerman profiled Martin as a criminal and killed him, even though he was doing nothing wrong.
The witness said he couldn't say what sparked the incident.
"I didn't see how it started; I didn't see how it ended. I just saw the part where they were in an altercation on the ground," the witness said.
The recordings and other documents released as part of the court case also touch on the racial component of the case.
In one recording, a former co-worker of Zimmerman's says Zimmerman made him the butt of a long-running office joke, ridiculing his Middle Eastern accent and bullying him in what the witness described as a juvenile but infuriating effort to fit in with other workers. In another, an anonymous caller tells a Sanford police officer that Zimmerman and his family are racists.
"I don't know what happened. I don't know at all, who this kid was or anything else," the woman said. "But I know George. And I know he does not like black people. He would start something. He's a very confrontational person."
Some people have also attributed a racial epithet to Zimmerman during his call with an emergency dispatcher. But an FBI analysis, released Thursday, determined that the word could not be definitively identified "due to weak signal level and poor recording quality."
Zimmerman's former attorneys and an audio expert said in April that they believed Zimmerman used the word "punks," not a slur.
The recordings released Friday are the latest in a series of revelations from the official investigation into the shooting. Authorities are making details of the case publicly available as attorneys prepare for Zimmerman's trial.
Among the documents released was one filed with prosecutors by Sanford police two weeks after the shooting, urging Zimmerman's arrest.
New documents shed light on Trayvon Martin killing
"The encounter between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin was ultimately avoidable by Zimmerman, if Zimmerman had remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement, or conversely if he had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog (sic) in an effort to dispel each party's concern," the police request to arrest Zimmerman said. "There is no indication that Trayvon Martin was involved in any criminal activity."
Other documents released this week include Martin's autopsy report, a fire department report on Zimmerman's injuries and an FBI analysis of emergency calls in which someone can be heard screaming in the background.
The autopsy report showed that Martin died of a gunshot wound to the chest fired from within 36 inches and that he had traces of marijuana in his blood and urine.
In his 911 call just before the shooting, Zimmerman had speculated that the teen looked like he was "up to no good or he's on drugs or something."
Martin's blood contained THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, according to autopsy results released Thursday. The autopsy was conducted February 27, the day after the teenager was shot dead.
Toxicology tests found elements of the drug in the teenager's chest blood -- 1.5 nanograms per milliliter of one type (THC), as well as 7.3 nanograms of another type (THC-COOH) -- according to the medical examiner's report. There also was a presumed positive test of cannabinoids in Martin's urine, according to the medical examiner's report. It was not immediately clear how significant these amounts were.
No precise levels on the urine were released.
Dr. Michael Policastro, a toxicologist, cautioned against reading too much into the blood THC levels, adding that one cannot make a direct correlation between those findings and a level of intoxication.
He also said that levels of THC, which can linger in a person's system for days, can spike after death in certain areas of the body because of redistribution.
And Dr. Drew Pinsky, an addiction specialist who hosts a show on CNN sister network HLN, added that marijuana typically does not make users more aggressive.
Concentrations of THC routinely rise to 100 to 200 nanograms per milliliter after marijuana use, though it typically falls to below 5 ng/ml within three hours of it being smoked, according to information on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website.
While some states have zero-tolerance policies for any drug traces for driving while impaired, others set certain benchmarks, the website of California's Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs notes. In Nevada, that equates to 2 ng/ml for THC and 5 ng/ml for THC-COOH, also known as marijuana metabolite. The cutoff level in Ohio is 2 ng/ml for THC and 50 ng/ml for THC-COOH.
What happened that night?
Martin's father, Tracy, had taken his son with him to Sanford, about four hours away from the boy's home and where the father's fiancee lived, after the teen was suspended for 10 days from Michael M. Krop High School in Miami.
According to records obtained by The Miami Herald, Martin had been suspended from school three times: once for writing graffiti on a door, another time for school truancy and the last time because of drug residue found in his backpack.
Just before the shooting, Zimmerman, 28, called 911 to complain about a suspicious person in his neighborhood.
In the call, Zimmerman said he was following Martin after the teen started to run, prompting the dispatcher to tell him, "We don't need you to do that."
Prosecutors say Zimmerman disregarded the advice, leading to a confrontation between the two.

Facebook Inc.’s stock shot up more than $4, or about 10%, to about $42 a share in the first few minutes after its public Wall Street debut Friday. Trading of Facebook was delayed a half hour to 8:30 a.m. Pacific time.
Facebook raised $16 billion in its IPO Thursday, the third-largest in U.S. history and the biggest ever for a technology company.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg rang the Nasdaq opening bell from company headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif.
Friday is the first day the public may buy the shares on a secondary market.

Facebook IPO trading opens at $42

Posted on 08:58 by Unknown
Facebook is now officially listed on NASDAQ. As of this moment shares are priced at $38, and the company is worth $104 billion. It would have been worth more but the IPO just wasn’t hyped enough!
Facebook's stock market debut is finally here -- and investors jumped on the breathlessly hyped IPO, sending shares up almost 11% at the start of trade.

On Thursday night, Facebook (FB) set its final IPO price at $38 a share. When the stock began trading at 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday, the first trade came in at $42.05 per share.
The trading had been expected to start around 11 a.m. ET, but the opening was delayed. A few minutes into trading, Facebook lost some of its gains and was trading around $40 per share.
Trading was fast and intense. More than 80 million shares changed hands in the first 30 seconds of trading, and within 20 minutes, volume had spiked to 165 million shares.
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg rang the Nasdaq opening bell remotely, from the company's headquarters in California. Facebook celebrated its public debut by gathering its staff Thursday night for an all-night hackathon.
At the $38 IPO price, Facebook is on track to raise $16 billion -- making it the largest tech IPO in history. It's the third largest U.S. IPO ever, trailing only the $19.7 billion raised by Visa (V, Fortune 500) in March 2008 and the $18.1 billion raised by automaker General Motors (GM, Fortune 500) in November 2010, according to rankings by Thomson Reuters.
Underwriters have the option to purchase an extra 63.2 million shares to cover any so-called over-allotments for excess demand. If that happens, Facebook will sell 484.4 million shares in total. That would bring the amount raised to $18.4 billion.
How much Facebook is worth: At $38 per share, Facebook's market capitalization would be around $81 billion on IPO day.
Many Facebook employees and executives hold unexercised stock options. If all of those shares were exercised, Facebook's outstanding share count would rise to around 2.8 billion -- pushing the company's total valuation closer to $107 billion.
Among all global companies, Facebook has the third-highest IPO-day valuation in history, according to data from DealLogic.
SecondMarket, an exchange on which people can buy and sell stock in private companies, posted data on Friday about Facebook's private-trading history.
It wasn't until 2010 that SecondMarket's Facebook trades racked up significant volume, so Facebook's trades before that tended to be one-off deals at a low per-share price. In April 2010, Facebook fetched an average price of $9.82 per share on a monthly average basis. One year later, the rate jumped to $31.46.
As of April 5, Facebook shares were trading for an average of $42.72 each -- nearly $4 higher than the IPO price.
Who's selling shares: Zuckerberg plans to sell 30.2 million shares in the IPO offering. That will net Zuckerberg about $1.1 billion.
But Zuckerberg won't be hanging on to his cash. Facebook said he will use the "substantial majority" of the windfall to cover the massive tax bill he'll be hit with, thanks to his plan to exercise a large stock-options grant that will increase his ownership stake in the company he founded.
After the offering, Zuckerberg will still hold 503.6 million shares, or about 31% of the company. That stake is worth $19.1 billion at the IPO price.
Venture capital firm Accel Partners, which is the largest shareholder outside of Zuckerberg, is selling 49 million shares in the offering. That's about a quarter of its Facebook holdings.

Nicki Minaj locks lips with Nas, Dances with Chris Brown in Right By my Side Video

Posted on 09:56 by Unknown
In the newly released video for “Right By My Side,” Nicki Minaj plays one half of a lovesick couple that has been separated for an unknown reason.
While Chris Brown sings the male verse on the song, Minaj recruited rapper Nas to play her brooding leading man.
The three seem to be entangled in love triangle of sorts, with Brown vying for Minaj’s heart with a lunchtime shopping trip and Nas with a car delivered to her doorstep. (I’d say the latter is a slightly better gift.)
The video also features shots of a beautiful home, fancy jewelry and a waterfall feature, as well as a very subtle close-up on a Pepsi can. Considering Mianj’s ties to the soda company, I’d say the songstress wasn’t drinking the beverage because the restaurant didn’t serve Coke.
Nas and Minaj make quite a nice fictional couple, sharing a passionate kiss at the end of the video. A Twitter user posited to the singer, “Ya’ll must’ve practiced that kiss more than once [because] that was perfection,” to which Minaj replied, “Ummm. Yes. Yes we did.”

John Travolta masseur withdraws assault claim

Posted on 05:42 by Unknown

This 'movie' is just amusing aint it?
The unidentified man had claimed that the star groped him during a massage session in Beverly Hills in January.

A second masseur who claims Travolta made similar advances later that month in Atlanta is to press ahead with his case, according to his lawyer.
The actor's lawyer said the 58-year-old had been "completely vindicated" by the dismissal of the first complaint.
In a statement, Marty Singer said he expected his client to "similarly be vindicated" with regards to the second claimant, referred to in documents as John Doe No 2.
Okorie Okorocha, the attorney for both claimants, attributed the first masseur's decision not to proceed to disagreements over how to handle the case.
"Let's just say we had differences in opinion of how to handle the case and decided to part ways," he told People magazine.
The notice of dismissal was filed on Tuesday at the US District Court in Los Angeles.
Travolta was Oscar-nominated for his roles in Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction and has been married to actress Kelly Preston since 1991.

General Motors pulls adverts from facebook

Posted on 05:30 by Unknown
GM does not believe paid-for advertising on Facebook influences many people's choice of car.
Analysts said it raised questions about Facebook's ability to lift profits.
Despite this, Facebook's first issue of shares is proving so popular that on Tuesday it increased the price range for the stock.

It raised the price range from $28-$35 a share to $34-$38, potentially putting the firm's total value above $100bn (£62.2bn).
The Reuters news agency also reported that demand was so high that the company would release up to 25% more shares, allowing it to raise about $16bn.
Trading in the shares is expected to begin on Friday.
The eight-year-old social network has 900 million users worldwide and made a profit of $1bn last year.
Risk GM, the third-largest advertiser in the US, is the highest-profile company to pronounce on the worth of advertising on social networking sites compared with conventional media.
While it is dropping paid-for advertising, it will continue with its own Facebook page.
"In terms of Facebook specifically, while we currently do not plan to continue with advertising, we remain committed to an aggressive content strategy through all of our products and brands, as it continues to be a very effective tool for engaging with our customers," GM said in a statement.
However, rival Ford will continue its social media strategy. A spokesman said: "You just can't buy your way into Facebook. You need to have a credible presence and be doing innovative things."
Brian Wieser, internet and media analyst at Pivotal Research Group, said GM's move intensified questions about site's business plan.
"This does highlight what we are arguing is the riskiness of the overall Facebook business model," he said.

Ribery: Chelsea is tactically stronger than Barcelona

Posted on 08:56 by Unknown
Drogba and Ribery are to face off in the UEFA Champions League Finals
We disagree with Franck. If he is talking physical football then chelsea can have it. No chickening out before the match. Lol
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has labelled Chelsea a stronger side than Barcelona as far as tactics are concerned.
The Bavarian giants lock horns with Chelsea on Saturday in the Champions League final after the Blues disposed of the Blaugrana in the semis.
Ribery disputed the notion that the English club is a weaker opponent than Barca and warned his team against underestimating the threat posed by Roberto Di Matteo's men.

"When it comes to the game, Barcelona are stronger," Ribery told Kicker. "But if you look at organization, tactics, and set pieces, then Chelsea are better.

"In the semifinal, Chelsea played like they had to against a team like Barcelona, and in Munich they will take a defensive approach, with a well organized and compact team. It will be very hard for us."

Bayern heads into Saturday's clash at the Allianz Arena on the back of a 5-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final.

'Desperate Housewives' series finale: How it all ended

Posted on 08:42 by Unknown

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen the two-hour Desperate Housewives series finale and intend to, stop reading now. If you haven’t seen it but want to know how it ended, continue. We break it down below.

Bree (Marcia Cross): She was on trial for allegedly killing Gaby’s (Eva Longoria) abusive stepfather Alejandro, which Carlos (Antonio Chavira) had actually done. Renee (Vanessa Williams) went to see her fiancé Ben (Charles Mesure) when he got thrown in jail for contempt before their wedding because he refused to answer questions on the stand about an incriminating phone conversation with Bree. Renee told him she’d actually seen something the night of the murder, and the D.A., who’d been eavesdropping on their conversation, threatened to deport Ben if Renee didn’t testify to watching Bree walk up her driveway looking disheveled and carrying a shovel. Bree’s lawyer, Trip (Scott Bakula), finally got Bree scared enough — and turned on enough — that she told him the truth about what happened that night so he wouldn’t be blindsided again. She told him he couldn’t use the information against her friends, but fearing he’d lose the case — and Bree — he called Gaby to the stand. Bree faked fainting to get a recess. Carlos wanted to come forward and tell the truth, but Gaby said she’d confess because the jury would buy her doing it in self-defense but not him, a two-time felon. Carlos told her how much she’d changed, being willing to sacrifice herself for him, which is why he wouldn’t let her risk it — their girls need her around as a role model. To stop Carlos, Gaby put a switchblade in his jacket so the metal detector would go off and the guards would keep Carlos from entering the courtroom. She’d intended to confess, but someone else beat her to it. (More on that below.) Bree went free, and though she claimed she was refusing to see Trip because of his betrayal, it was really because she couldn’t believe that he would want to be with her knowing all of her faults. They eventually reunited at Renee’s wedding reception. They ultimately married and moved to Louisville, where Bree joined a club for conservative women. She was elected to the Kentucky state legislature.
Gaby (Eva Longoria): Her story line involved a promotion to Head of VIP Sales at Cumberly’s. She was spending so much time working, she ended up using Carlos’ old tricks on him — buying him a present to apologize for missing dinner. So, he used one of her old tricks on her — he hired a hot gardener, Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez). Gaby didn’t appreciate him joking about the time in her life she’s least proud of (her affair), but his point was that they can’t go down this road of neglect again. She said they wouldn’t, they’re adults now. Carlos helped her start a personal shopping website, which led to her own show on HSN. They bought a mansion in California and “argued happily ever after.”
Lynette (Felicity Huffman): She thought Tom (Doug Savant) invited himself over to her house to tell her he wanted to get back together. But instead, because he thought he’d seen her with another man, he told her he’d be filing divorce papers the next morning. After Roy (Orson Bean) reminded Tom how important it is to say things to the one you love when you still have the chance to, Tom told Lynette that even though she’d moved on and was in love, she’d always be the love of his life. She told him the man she was in love with was him. They got back together. And then… Katherine (Dana Delany), who is no longer a lesbian, returned to town to offer Lynette a job in New York heading the U.S. division of her wildly successful food company (which sells frozen croissants to French people). Lynette said no, but then reconsidered. Tom said he’d move wherever to make her happy, only he didn’t think she’d ever feel complete. She used her matron of honor toast at Renee’s wedding to make up with him. She told Renee and Ben that if they ever feel like a piece of their heart is missing and nothing seems to fill it, it’s because it’s already been filled by their love and they simply forgot that. Lynette would’ve stayed in town, but Tom agreed to move to New York. Lynette became a CEO, and they became the owners of a penthouse overlooking Central Park, where, years later, Lynette would yell at her six grandchildren.

Susan (Teri Hatcher): She was waiting for the right moment to tell the ladies she’d be the first one to leave Wisteria Lane so she could help daughter Julie (Andrea Bowen) raise her baby. Susan kept trying to fix Julie up with her hot young obstetrician, but that was really just to give Julie a reason to ask her mother if she thought she’d ever find love again. Susan said she may have one more torrid romance in her, but if not, she had enough wonderful memories of Mike (James Denton), who’s dead, and her children to keep her warm at night. Julie’s water broke as she, Susan, Gaby, and Renee were in the limo on the way to Renee’s wedding. Susan eventually stole the limo to get Julie to the hospital; Renee and Gaby, who insisted on stopping at Gaby’s store to get her a dry wedding dress first, were taking too long. Renee and Gaby then had to walk/run to the wedding (security didn’t recognize Gaby, who was without her work ID). Julie gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Susan told the new owner of her house that Wisteria Lane was anything but boring, and she, Julie, Julie’s daughter, and MJ (Mason Vale Cotton) took one last drive around the block. Susan didn’t know it, but everyone who’d died, including Mike and Mary Alice (Brenda Strong), was there to watch her go. They were always there, hoping those on the lane would remember that even the most desperate life is wonderful. Of course, the final shot of the finale showed us the new owner of Susan’s home, a woman named Jennifer, was hiding a secret of her own. Some things will never change.
Mrs. McCluskey (Kathryn Joosten): She was the real heart of the finale. Though she’d wanted to die at home, her doctor told her taking care of her would be too physically demanding for Roy. Just as she was about to move into hospice care, Susan, Bree, Lynette, and Gaby offered to take shifts helping Roy so she could stay. It was Gaby’s turn the night she and Carlos were arguing over who would confess to the murder, and Mrs. McCluskey overheard them. She went to court that next morning and told Trip he should call her as a witness so she could discredit Renee’s testimony because she’d seen her drinking the night she claimed to have seen Bree with a shovel. Instead, Mrs. McCluskey confessed to the murder. Because of her age and illness, the state didn’t press charges. She wasn’t done meddling yet: She’d been wanting Bree to find her Johnny Mathis’ “Wonderful! Wonderful!” on vinyl — which she’d have Roy play over and over again as the end neared. Bree couldn’t find it, so Mrs. McCluskey called Trip and asked him to help. He was happy to, because of what she’d done for Bree. Roy told Bree about Trip finding the record and assured her that he was a decent man — not a manipulative lawyer. Bree thanked Roy for finding the record at Renee’s wedding reception, which was the start of the conversation that ended with them getting their own happily ever after.

wow.... Facebook co-founder renounces the U.S in order to make more money

Posted on 07:41 by Unknown
We guess its not only Mitt Ronmey that has this thing for keeping his dollars safe, somewhere.
Eduardo Saverin, the billionaire co- founder of Facebook Inc. (FB), renounced his U.S. citizenship before an initial public offering that values the social network at as much as $96 billion, a move that may reduce his tax bill.

Facebook plans to raise as much as $11.8 billion through the IPO, the biggest in history for an Internet company. Saverin’s stake is about 4 percent, according to the website Who Owns Facebook. At the high end of the IPO valuation, that would be worth about $3.84 billion. His holdings aren’t listed in Facebook’s regulatory filings.

Saverin, 30, joins a growing number of people giving up U.S. citizenship, a move that can trim their tax liabilities in that country. The Brazilian-born resident of Singapore is one of several people who helped Mark Zuckerberg start Facebook in a Harvard University dorm and stand to reap billions of dollars after the world’s largest social network holds its IPO.
“Eduardo recently found it more practical to become a resident of Singapore since he plans to live there for an indefinite period of time,” said Tom Goodman, a spokesman for Saverin, in an e-mailed statement.

Saverin’s name is on a list of people who chose to renounce citizenship as of April 30, published by the Internal Revenue Service. Saverin renounced his U.S. citizenship “around September” of last year, according to his spokesman.

Singapore doesn’t have a capital gains tax. It does tax income earned in that nation, as well as “certain foreign- sourced income,” according to a government website on tax policies there.

Exit Tax

Saverin won’t escape all U.S. taxes. Americans who give up their citizenship owe what is effectively an exit tax on the capital gains from their stock holdings, even if they don’t sell the shares, said Reuven S. Avi-Yonah, director of the international tax program at the University of Michigan’s law school. For tax purposes, the IRS treats the stock as if it has been sold.

Renouncing your citizenship well in advance of an IPO is “a very smart idea,” from a tax standpoint, said Avi-Yonah. “Once it’s public you can’t fool around with the value.”

Saverin previously scuffled with Zuckerberg, his Harvard University classmate, over his ownership in Facebook. Saverin sued him and settled for an undisclosed amount.

The 2010 movie “The Social Network” added to Saverin’s fame after it portrayed him as a scorned friend who provided the company’s early financing and then was squeezed out. In the film, written by Aaron Sorkin, Saverin was portrayed by Andrew Garfield, who will play Spider-Man in “The Amazing Spider- Man.”

Saverin’s Investments

Saverin moved to the U.S. in 1992, and became a citizen in 1998, his spokesman said. He has invested in Asian, U.S. and European companies, according to his spokesman.

He plans to invest in Brazilian and in other global companies that have strong interests in entering the Asian markets. “Accordingly, it made the most sense for him to use Singapore as a home base,” Goodman said in the statement.

His U.S. holdings include Jumio Inc., an online payments company, and ShopSavvy Inc., a price-comparison service.

Renouncing citizenship is an option chosen by increasing numbers of Americans. A record 1,780 gave up their U.S. passports last year compared with 235 in 2008, according to government records.
Income-tax rates for top U.S. earners will rise to 39.6 percent from 35 percent next year, and rates on capital gains and dividends also are scheduled to rise unless Congress blocks the increases.

‘Tax Cost’

“It’s a loss for the U.S. to have many well-educated people who actually have a great deal of affection for America make that choice,” said Richard Weisman, an attorney at Baker & McKenzie in Hong Kong. “The tax cost, complexity and the traps for the unwary are among the considerations.”

Some of the world’s largest wealth-management firms have ramped up efforts to fight tax evasion ahead of Washington’s implementation of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, known as Fatca, which seeks to prevent tax evasion by Americans with offshore accounts. HSBC Holdings Plc, Deutsche Bank AG, Bank of Singapore Ltd. and DBS Group Holdings Ltd. all say they have turned away business.

The 2010 law, to be phased in starting Jan. 1, 2013, requires financial institutions based outside the U.S. to obtain and report information about income and interest payments accrued to the accounts of American clients. That means additional compliance costs for banks and fewer investment options and advisers for all U.S. citizens living abroad, which may depress banks’ returns.

Facebook plans to price its IPO on May 17, offering 337.4 million shares at $28 to $35 each. The shares will be listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the symbol FB. Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. are leading the sale.

Coed With Flesh-Eating Disease Likely to Lose More Limbs

Posted on 07:25 by Unknown

Another day another ailment. So sad, we wish her all the best!

ATLANTA -- A University of West Georgia graduate student who lost one limb and will probably lose parts of others to flesh-eating bacteria is mouthing words to her family and showing a "fighting spirit," her father said Friday.

Aimee Copeland is fighting for her life at an Augusta hospital after her left leg and part of her abdomen were removed last week. She contracted the infection after injuring her calf in a zip line accident 10 days ago.
"I would say that she has more commands than questions right now," Andy Copeland told "CNN Newsroom," saying his daughter’s breathing tube was repositioned so her parents could read her lips.

"'I can’t talk,' was what she said. And we said, 'We know, honey, you've got a tube down your throat.'

"She said, 'Then take it out.' So her fighting spirit is obviously shining through right now.'

Aimee, 24, contracted the bacteria – Aeromonas hydrophila – during an outing with friends near the Little Tallapoosa River, about 50 miles west of Atlanta, on May 1, her family has said. She fell when a homemade zip line she was using snapped, and she gashed her left calf.

The family has said she sought medical treatment for the wound and received 22 staples to close it, according to CNN affiliate WSB. But on May 4, after she complained of pain for days, a friend took her to an emergency room, and she was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis and flown to Augusta for surgery.

She went into cardiac arrest after being removed from the operating table, but was resuscitated, CNN affiliate WGCL reported.

Her father wrote in an Internet post Thursday that her hands and remaining foot also will have to be amputated soon, because blood vessels there have died as the disease has spread. He said Friday that Aimee doesnt yet know about these next amputations.

"There's no way I would reveal that to her in her current state. I believe that it would just traumatize her further," he said, adding that a psychiatrist at the hospital will tell her when she's able to talk.

Andy Copeland wrote Thursday that Aimee shows no sign of brain damage and that a doctor said her lungs are healing. On Friday, he told CNN the road ahead for Aimee will be difficult.

"It's obvious (that) if you’re missing one limb, it's going to be hard enough. But if you're missing all of your limbs, it’s going to be incredibly difficult," he said. "But I guess I want everybody to know is that she’s not alone. She’s got her family to support her in this, and not just us."

Thousands of people have connected with a Facebook page that the family also is using to update her progress.

"She's got the support of the entire world right now. And that's really what's humbled us greatly in this entire process, just knowing that everybody's looking at Aimee and praying for Aimee and just offering their undying support. For that, we'll be eternally grateful."

Aimee Copeland, of Snellville, Georgia, is a graduate psychology student at the University of West Georgia and was scheduled to complete her master's degree in the fall, school spokeswoman Yolanda Rodriguez said.

On Thursday night, a couple dozen students and faculty members attended a vigil for her in a building that houses the school’s psychology department.

"Despite the fact that medical evidence says she should be dead, she isn't. I think that’s what makes it so precious to so many people, to see how amazing she really is," Chris Aanstoos, a University of West Georgia professor, told WSB on Thursday.

Dr. Buddy Creech, an assistant professor of pediatric infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University, said that Aeromonas hydrophila, found in water and elsewhere in the environment, is one of many bacteria that can cause a flesh-eating process.

"When it gets into those deeper tissues, it has a remarkable ability to destroy the tissues that surround it in sort of this hunt for nutrition," Creech said Friday. "When it does that, those tissues die, and you see the inflammation and the swelling and the destruction that can be very difficult to control."

Creech said Aeromonas hydrophila more commonly affects humans when it is swallowed – resulting in diarrhea. When young children or children with immune problems drink water with the bacteria, "they can get a very significant diarrhea illness from it," he said.

"It’s much more uncommon that we see it in (a case like Copeland's), where we see wounds get infected and the infection runs wild,” Creech said.

Romney's lame response on bullying allegations

Posted on 10:59 by Unknown
Romney can't just win. The 'baggage' are just too many to square Obama. Uhmm another 'Etch A Sketch'? Haha
We sometimes liken the presidential campaign to an extended job interview, but it's certainly unlike any job any of us has ever applied for.
You've probably never gone into an interview where your prospective employer said, "Your résumé looks good, but of course we'll have to decide if we like your spouse, go through your tax returns, talk to your elementary school classmates, see how you react when crazy people ask you bizarre questions, and make sure the car you drive communicates the proper
patriotism and ordinary-guy credibility." It isn't enough to know whether a candidate can do the job well or whether his agenda accords with ours; we need to gaze into the very depths of his soul.
This question becomes particularly acute for candidates who seem awkward or unskilled at the glad-handing part of politics, the requirement to forge deep emotional connections with voters in the span of a few seconds. Mitt Romney is only the latest to struggle with "authenticity" (as John Kerry and Al Gore did), and six months from election day voters and reporters are still trying to determine just what kind of person he is.
So it no doubt caused panic in the Romney camp when the Washington Post published an account of Romney's high school years at the elite Cranbrook school in suburban Detroit, detailing the young man's penchant for practical jokes and what he now calls "hijinks." The worst was an incident involving a socially awkward boy, suspected of being gay, who had dyed his hair blond.
"He can't look like that. That's wrong. Just look at him!" Romney told a friend, according to the Post. He then led a group that tracked the boy down, tackled him, and held him on the ground. As the boy cried and yelled for help, Romney reportedly clipped his hair with scissors.
When he was questioned about the story, Romney gave what has now become the politicians' standard response to the revelation of misbehavior from long ago: "I don't recall the incident myself, but I've seen the reports and I'm not going to argue with that. There's no question but that I did some stupid things when I was in high school and obviously if I hurt anyone by virtue of that, I would be very sorry for it and apologize for it."
You'd hardly expect any politician in his position to say anything different.
Perhaps Romney is being completely sincere. But the Post confirmed the story with five witnesses, four of whom described it on the record, so there seems little doubt about whether it occurred. They were deeply troubled by their participation in it, and recall it vividly to this day.

A candidate who has struggled with seeming human, as Mitt Romney has, could have done himself a favor by using this as an opportunity to show a little more of himself. He could have said: Yes, it happened. It was stupid and cruel. I wish I could go back and undo it. But part of growing up is realizing where you failed when you were young, and learning from your mistakes so you can become a better person.
Most importantly, Romney could have said something that indicated he had a conception of how horrible the assault must have been for John Lauber, the victim. His only mention of Lauber, who died in 2004, was to say "I had no idea what that individual's sexual orientation might be."
By referring to Lauber as "that individual" he makes Lauber a nameless figure, further distancing himself from the incident. Which is exactly the opposite of what he should have done. After all, it's the quality of empathy -- being able to see things from someone else's perspective and feel what they feel -- that Romney has had trouble convincing voters he possesses.
This problem comes up for Romney again and again, often in the form of "gaffes" that are usually taken out of context, but still reveal a tin ear for the lives people lead. To take just one example, when Romney said "I like being able to fire people that provide services to me," anyone who has ever been laid off recoiled in shock, whatever the context. Business owners and supervisors who have had to do the firing -- the humane ones, anyway -- know it can be a painful experience from the other side of the desk as well. It may be necessary at times, but you certainly wouldn't say you "like" it.
Perhaps Romney really doesn't remember the assault on John Lauber nearly a half-century ago, despite the fact that so many of the other people who were there have never forgotten it. Or perhaps he decided that claiming ignorance would be the safest course of crisis management. But what he said told people nothing about the man he is today and how he has changed and grown over that time. We're all different people than we were in our youth, and we all have regrets. The 17-year-old Mitt Romney may have been a privileged, entitled boy with a mean streak. The 65-year-old Mitt Romney missed an opportunity to convince us he's something different.

Bristol Palin draws fire for gay marriage comments

Posted on 10:15 by Unknown
So, obviously what this fiasco means is that Barack is on the safe. Haha
Bristol Palin is sparking a social media backlash for disagreeing with President Barack Obama's support of same-sex marriage.
The former Dancing with the Stars contestant, author and unwed mother said in her blog: "We know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home."
The daughter of Sarah Palin also commented that Obama's decision was influenced by his daughters, Sasha and Malia.
"I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren't younger, or perhaps today's press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox," Palin wrote.
Reaction to her comments came swiftly.
Samantha Ronson, celebrity DJ and former girlfriend of Lindsay Lohan said of Palin's mother/father comment, "really bristol palin? how's your kid doing?"
Jersey Shore star JWoww first tweeted, "Bristol should keep her uneducated ignorant mouth shut. If Ur living in the past u wouldn't have a kid w/out marriage #hypocrite. It's 2012!"
She followed up with another tweet saying, "My best friend will get married one day and not just have civil union with his man. Stop hating people."
Openly gay blogger Perez Hilton tweeted, "I think I need to give Bristol Palin a good massage. Girlfriend needs to RELAX!!!"
Sherri Shepherd of "The View" commented on Twitter,  "Sara Palin educated Bristol ... and not blaming Bristol, but I'm blaming Bristol being young & not excercising good judgment."
Even some not-so-famous commentators got their say, as  mediabistro.com's "All Twitter" blog rounded up some of the best reactions to Bristol Palin's comments.
Some of those include:
  • nolageek "Let's all bask in the irony of Bristol Palin talking about the importance of raising a child in a traditional marriage."
  • Chico Delainky "Bristol Palin is just envious that some babies have two dads & her's doesn't even have one"
  • Alec Mapa "Bristol Palin's just jealous because I'm actually married to the father of my baby"

Mancini:Manchester City's title-deciding clash against QPR is not a grudge match with Mark Hughes

Posted on 09:49 by Unknown
Whatever Mancini, but you have to win the match to save your a**.
Hughes, Mancini's predecessor, returns to the Etihad Stadium with his new side on Sunday for a match that has major implications at the top and bottom of the Premier League.
Victory for City would secure a first title for 44 years but anything less would open the door for great rivals Manchester United to reclaim the crown, and they face a QPR side anxious for points.
Rangers need to avoid defeat to be sure of avoiding relegation without relying on other results and, given the manner of his departure from City in 2009, it is felt Hughes has double incentive to succeed.
But Mancini, whose managerial style has been criticised by Hughes in the past, insists footballing matters are all that are relevant.
The Italian said: "This is not important - on Sunday we play Manchester City against QPR.

"For me, they are a good team, they don't deserve to stay at the bottom.
"They want to do everything to stay in the Premier League and for this reason I think it will be a tough game.
"I don't know him very well but it is not Mancini against Hughes or Hughes against Mancini. It is City against QPR.
"One team plays for the title, the other plays for (to avoid) relegation."
City lead the table on goal difference from United heading into the final fixture and know, with an advantage of eight under that criteria, they effectively control their own destiny.
Despite the obvious pressures on the management and players as they hope to end the 44-year wait for the title, the Italian has insisted that there has been no tension in training this week.
He said: "It is a normal week, without problem, without injury. We have worked well.
"The players are very well. I think maybe tomorrow, Saturday, we can have pressure – I don't know – because it is the last game, but it doesn't change our situation.
"We need to play another difficult game. We need only to have focus about the game."
Hughes, meanwhile, insists survival rather than revenge is his only motivation.
"I am not at all surprised it has come to this given the way the season has panned out from our point of view and many other clubs," the Welshman said.
"There have been so many ups and downs, twists and turns - it has been quite remarkable.
"Here we are now with so many issues on the last day of the season still to be resolved. It is going to be an exciting weekend.
"People keep throwing that word [revenge] up but it is not in my mind at all.
"From my point of view I am completely focused on what we have to do as you would expect.

"We have got a huge game and huge challenge. It is not going to be easy as Manchester City are an outstanding football team.
"The prize they are going for is obviously the ultimate prize and for us to deny them the opportunity to do that will be difficult.
"Everybody acknowledges that but the fact that this season has been so unpredictable means you can never say that a result is a given.

"That is certainly not how we're thinking and we intend to go there to get the points we need to be safe."
Former Man City chief executive Garry Cook will return to the club for the first time since resigning from his post in September to watch their attempt to end their 44-year wait for the Premier League title.
Cook will be at the Etihad Stadium as City take on QPR in the final match of the season in his first match since leaving over claims he emailed defender Nedum Onuoha's cancer-suffering mother mocking her illness.
Onuoha will be in the QPR ranks on Sunday having joined the club during the January transfer window.

What da.... Baby born holding a Quran in Lagos, Nigeria

Posted on 06:20 by Unknown
What, are we supposed to believe this?
A baby boy, who is said to have been holding a small Holy Quran during his birth, is causing a big controversy in Lagos, Nigeria.
The baby was born at a white garment church in the Mushin area of Lagos.
A large crowd gathered at 1, Sonde Street, Ijeshatedo, Lagos home of the boy’s parents  as news of the unusual birth spread like wildfire.

Some people dispute the claim while others say it is possible.
His mother, Mrs. Kikelomo Ilori, 32, a Cosmetologist, told P.M.NEWS that he was born on Monday after she had carried the pregnancy for about 10 months. The single mother claimed she was abandoned by her husband who denied responsibility for the pregnancy and encouraged her to abort it. The woman told P.M.NEWS yesterday: “When I refused to abort the pregnancy, he deserted me, saying ‘that is your own problem’.” Mrs. Ilori expressed surprise at the birth of the boy. She added that the nurse who delivered her of the baby was physically challenged, but went about it commendably.
“When my baby was delivered holding a Quran in his hand, the nurse said the Quran should be thrown away. But I insisted my mother must see it before any action could be taken,” Kikelomo, who is a Christian, further explained.
Corroborating the story, Senior Rev. Victoria Yetunde Dada said during the pregnancy, Kikelomo was always coming to her for prayers and counselling.
“I advised her not to abort the pregnancy because she might die in the process. Again, I told her the foetus was sent by God and will be great,” Apostle Mother Dada told our correspondent. Controversy has continued to trail the seemingly spurious claim.
Reacting, Medical Director of Bodet Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, Dr. Bode Tawak said scientifically, it was not possible for a baby to be born holding a Quran.
“How big is the baby’s hand to hold the Quran? How big is the Quran? How did the Quran get into her mother’s womb? I don’t know how a Quran can get into a womb. But there are things you can’t explain,” Dr. Tawak responded. He said while the incident cannot be explained medically, in Nigeria many mysterious things happen. A Kaduna-based medical practitioner, Dr. Munir Yusuf said from a medical point of view, it was not possible, but added that depending on the size of the Quran, it was possible metaphysically. He explained that if the Quran is small enough to pass through the diameter of the vagina, with the child, it is possible. In the same vein, a herbal medicine practitioner, Chief Dr. Bola Adegunloye believes nothing is impossible, but said too much importance must not be placed on the incident.
